The village of Newcastleton, with a resident population of 850, is nestled in the valley of Liddesdale, gateway to the Scottish Borders. Buses run regularly between Hawick and Newcastleton and Carlisle and Newcastleton. Services provided by Telford’s Coaches. By train

For access to Newcastleton by train, Carlisle is the most convenient in terms of connections and services, although Gretna is closer.

There are regular services to Carlisle run by Virgin Trains and Northern Trains, and First Scotrail from Dumfries, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle Upon Tyne. Virgin also provides intercity services from elswhere in Britain. First Scotrail and Northern Trains run services to Gretna.
